Like every year, the Coming Out Day will take place on October 11, 2019.

Activities are organized in various Rainbow municipalities and the rainbow flag is raised in the morning. In the municipality of The Hague, alderman Bert van Alphen (Social Affairs, Poverty Reduction and Social Relief) will raise the rainbow flag on the Spui and in the municipality of Rijswijk, alderman Johanna Besteman (Welfare, Culture and Education).

The municipalities of the Haaglanden region, in collaboration with COC Haaglanden, are also organizing a mini conference this year on the theme of 'LGBTI-friendly policy' within (care) institutions that deal with Pink seniors.

During the mini-conference it is mainly about creating more awareness and attention for sexual diversity among clients and employees within (care) institutions.

This is far from always the case, which means that Pink seniors sometimes have the feeling that they have to “go back into the closet”. There are discussions with Roze seniors, aldermen from the Haaglanden region, administrators and employees of (care) institutions and other substantive stakeholders.

Eveline van de Putte, known as author of Stormy Silence, life stories of Roze elderly and Nieuwe Namen, life stories of transgender elderly and of the Tour d'Amour meetings, makes a contribution.

Roos Pijpers of Radboud University Nijmegen discusses the results of her research into the experiences of Pink seniors with care, support and housing.

During the afternoon, the participants explored how to tighten up the policy in such a way that the living environment of the Roze elderly in the region becomes more LGBTI-friendly.
