On February 17, the municipality of The Hague took the decision to move the monument, at the request of COC Haaglanden, to the green belt between Koningskade and Prinsessegracht, opposite the Royal Academy of Art. This location does more justice to the international character of the monument.

The request of the COC Haaglanden for relocation has been actively supported by the pink councilors Kim Waanders (D66) and Arjen Lakerveld (VVD).

The memorial meetings on 4 May are organized by the COC Haaglanden and the Homomonument Den Haag International Foundation.
