Masterpiece 'Girl'
Girl depicts the life of 15-year-old Lara, whose biggest dream is to make a career as a ballerina. But her body struggles, because Lara was born a boy. However, together with her father and young brother, she tries to defy the world. Girl won several awards at the Cannes Film Festival. Debut director Lukas Dhont was awarded the prestigious Camera d'Or, the young lead actor Victor Polster won the prize for Best Interpretation, the international press rewarded Girl with the Prix Fipresci and the film also won the Queer Palm. At its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, the film was rewarded with a minute-long standing ovation.
