The Hague is one of the few (student) cities without an LGBTi+ student association. And that is now changing!

Last summer, young people who are actively involved in COC Haaglanden critically examined the existing youth activities. Questions they asked themselves included: who do we want to reach and what are our goals? What needs of youth can we meet?
This root-cause analysis revealed that we are missing an important target group: students!

After a period of research, deliberation, testing, adjusting and trying again, we proudly present: HGSV Philautia! In full: The Hague Gay Student Association Philautia. Philautia is a working group within the COC. Externally it presents itself as a student association.
Now everyone is wondering where the name comes from. Of course, that can only come from a creative student. See here:

Philautia is the Greek concept of 'accepting yourself.'
The idea is that love for others only begins when you fully accept and love yourself.
As Aristotle would have said:
“All love for others is an extension of the love one has for oneself.”
The word begins with 'Philia', the Greek word for love.
