On January 21, the action program “Queer in The Hague; safe, visible and accepted” adopted by a large majority by the city council.

The action program focuses on greater visibility, acceptance and safety for all queers in The Hague. Within the broad group of queer residents, the city council wants extra attention for four groups:

  • bi-cultural youth,
  • transgender persons
  • queer seniors and
  • asylum seekers and status holders.

This extra attention is needed, because research shows that their emancipation compared to other queers is lagging behind. Safety, visibility and acceptance are also becoming the most important spearheads for these four focus groups.
