After the great success of the first Rotterdam Pride in 2014, the second edition of this event will be held from 24 to 27 September. It will be opened by Mayor Aboutaleb. This year's theme is sexual and cultural diversity.
Programme
The organization and its partners have found a nice balance between party and content with a distinctive cultural program. The event will be opened on September 25 by Mayor Aboutaleb and the Star Sisters during the Keerweerparade. The Schouwburgplein will be transformed into the Pride Square for one weekend; a dazzling square where diversity is celebrated and visitors can taste all the special organizations that Rotterdam has to offer. They can participate in the Pride yoga & bootcamp, come out as non-LGBT's or explore homosexuality in the animal kingdom. There is a wide range on the Pride Square in which Rotterdam's diversity can be explored in all kinds of areas.
Feast
Rotterdam Pride once again has an extensive party program this year, including the Keerweerparade, singer-songwriters at ladies café LOUD, party TOPSTUK in WORM and TOTALLY STRANO with special live acts by Lucien Foort and Ferry de Ruiter.
Conference
The Creating Cross-Overs conference is about intersections between religious, cultural and sexual diversity. Sexual diversity is often contrasted with cultural and religious diversity. Is this constructive? And what if you are religious and homosexual? Together with scientists, philosophers, LGBT activists and religious leaders, we build connections.
Culture
During Rotterdam Pride, tours, theatre, film and exhibitions are all about sexual and cultural diversity. Think of the bike tours: 'The pink history of Rotterdam' or 'Homosexuality in the animal kingdom' in Diergaarde Blijdorp.
The performance Schijn can be seen in the Ro theater especially for this occasion. A coming of age story of a boy of Moroccan parents who grows up in the Netherlands. Shine is a story about identity, conscience and love. The Rotterdam self-made Actor Fahd Larhzaoui investigates how he can be himself without losing his family.
The short film De Beslissing is shown in LantarenVenster. Afterwards there will be a Q&A with the filmmakers, Leefbaar Rotterdam and an imam. The film is about a Dutch boy with a Moroccan background who struggles with his sexual identity. Due to the sacrificial feast, the film is programmed a few days after Rotterdam Pride on Tuesday 29 September.
Furthermore, Camera Japan and the Fotomuseum also have an appealing program in the last weekend of September that fits in well with Rotterdam Pride!
