After nearly thirteen years of commitment to equality and inclusion in and around football, the founders of Roze Règâhs are handing over the reins to COC Haaglanden. This new initiative gives ADO Den Haag's LGBTQ+ supporters group a new lease on life, while its mission remains unchanged: a visible, powerful, and positive LGBTQ+ voice in the stands. The announcement of this relaunch coincides with Coming Out Day, a day on which we reflect on the importance of visibility, acceptance, and being yourself—including at ADO Den Haag.
"After years of fighting homophobia on and off the pitch, we've passed the buck to COC Haaglanden to continue our mission and ensure the group's survival. We're thrilled that COC Haaglanden is taking over and that we'll continue to work together to promote inclusion in the stands. Fortunately, homophobic chants in our own ADO Den Haag stadium are now rare, thanks in part to the tremendous support of the supporters' coordinator and ADO Den Haag management. We're incredibly grateful for that!" say the initiators and directors of the Roze Règâhs: Renate, Peter, Maron, Ron, Roxanne, Martin, and Tim.
New energy, familiar mission
Within the COC Haaglanden organization, which has been strongly committed to LGBTQ+ people for decades, the Roze Règâhs initiative is gaining new energy. The Roze Règâhs will continue to work towards the visibility and engagement of LGBTQ+ supporters at ADO Den Haag and to provide an accessible platform for encounters, dialogue, and social safety, both inside and outside the stadium.
"We are proud and grateful to be taking over from the Roze Règâhs. Their years of dedication have been and remain invaluable. Together, we will continue to build a football world where everyone feels welcome and safe. Regardless of who you are or who you love," said Paulien van der Hoeven, chair of COC Haaglanden.
General Manager Natascha van Grinsven-Admiraal adds: "The Roze Règâhs was the first pink supporters' club in the Netherlands and has therefore been a powerful symbol of connection and respect within Dutch football for years, and specifically at ADO Den Haag. The fact that their mission is now being continued by COC Haaglanden shows that inclusion at our club isn't temporary, but an enduring part of who we are. We remain committed to a stadium where everyone feels welcome, regardless of background or identity."
