During the Transgenders symposium in The Hague, which took place on 7 December 2015 in the Koorenhuis in The Hague, the John Blankenstein Prize 2015 was awarded by alderman Karsten Klein and jury chairman Willem Schoustra to the Hindustani Foundation.

The John Blankenstein Prize 2015 is the annual gay emancipation prize of the city of The Hague. This prize emphasizes the importance of an equal position and participation of gay men and women. The John Blankenstein Prize is a collaboration between the Municipality of The Hague and COC Haaglanden. The winner received an art object and a cash prize of 2.500 euros.

The jury, chaired by jury chairman Willem Schoustra, of the John Blankenstein Prize 2015 wanted to emphasize the importance of the emancipation of 'bi-cultural LGBT' people with the following nominations. Nominated this year were:

  • Kaabassi . Foundation
  • Hindustani Foundation
  • Get2Gether070

The jury has chosen the Hindustani Foundation, because the Hindustani Foundation originated from the Hindustani community itself. It takes a lot of courage to stand up for LGBT issues in that environment and Hindustani does this in an accessible and innovative way. Hindustani Foundation has raised various taboos, including sexual diversity. She develops her activities in the Schilderswijk and is thus a courageous and visible example for other migrant organizations.

The presentation took place at the Transgenders Symposium in The Hague, which was organized by PEP Den Haag in collaboration with, among others, COC Haaglanden. Alderman Karsten Klein, on behalf of the Municipality of The Hague, also signed the Declaration of Dordrecht at this symposium. (The Declaration of Dordrecht was drawn up in 2013 by Transgender Netwerk Nederland (TNN) with the aim of promoting the emancipation of transgenders in the workplace. The Hague as an international city would like to consolidate its LGBT policy and endorses what is described in the declaration .)
