Dare2Talk: continuing to talk about topics that are just a little bit exciting…

Dare2Talk organizes meetings for women who like to have a substantive discussion about all kinds of issues related to women's love.

The theme for December 11 is: “It's all in the family”

You must be the only one in your family….but you never know!

Each family reacts in its own way when one of their members turns out not to be heterosexual. And that reaction often has a lot of impact.

The basis of your life is what you inherit from your parents, and they in turn from their parents. In addition to love, these are a lot of cultural norms and values, religious beliefs, but also psycho-social factors such as vulnerabilities and resilience.

Questions we can answer are:

  • Are you the only one in the family who is 'different', or are there more family members who are 'different' in their own way?
  • Do you feel like the black sheep, do people think you are extra special and interesting or are you just like the others?
  • Who was the first in the family you told? Why?
  • How did your mother, father, brother, sister, daughter, son, grandma, grandpa react?
  • Where do you feel supported? And which reaction is (still) difficult?
  • Is there a picture of you and your girlfriend or was there a picture of you and your ex-girlfriend on your parents' wall?
  • Do your parents proudly tell the neighbors if you want to marry your girlfriend? Or do they prefer to keep it quiet?
  • Gays and lesbians often have an 'extended' family, they brew their own family consisting of a group of friends. Do you have that too? Or would you like to?
  • What is your perfect family?
