In the context of the Hague Month of Vitality, COC Haaglanden is organizing an LGBT Elderly Congress. The living situation and needs of elderly pink in the areas of housing, welfare and care are discussed. The conference is aimed at social organizations in the field of housing, welfare and care, politics and, of course, the elderly themselves. The aim of the conference is to arrive at a number of business cases.

Location: The Hague University of Applied Sciences

Chairman of the day is Evelyn van de Putte, author of Stormy Silence: a collection of life stories in which various LGBT seniors candidly share their stories about the many sensitive issues of their time.

Guest speakers are:

• dr. Judith Schuyf, chairman of the national platform gay and lesbian elderly – the living situation of lesbian and gay elderly.
• drs. Wouter Neerings, former COC chairman – the 50+ policy of COC Netherlands.

Workshops
The themes of housing, well-being, care and information have been cast in various workshops.

• independent living with light informal care
• housing types: sheltered housing, residential communities
• safety of and for pink seniors, at home and on the street
• living situation and contact groups of transgenders
• information about pink seniors – students and teachers of the HHS
• information about pink seniors – students and teachers ROC Mondriaan

Other activities
In addition to the senior citizens' congress, 4 other activities take place in the COC, namely:

October 17 workshop “Intimacy and sexuality”
October 18 workshop “Life will and end of life”
October 23 workshop “ICT and use of social media”
still to be determined workshop “Appearance care”

These workshops are mainly aimed at the elderly themselves.

The meeting is free to attend. You can register until October 10, 2015. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. It is also possible to register for a part of the day. Be quick because the number of places is limited.
