A well-attended General Members' Meeting of COC Haaglanden took place on Tuesday 18 August. Due to the measures surrounding the Covid-19 virus, it was decided not to organize the meeting in the, in this case a bit too cramped, building of the association on Scheveningseveer, but in the building of Inholland University of Applied Sciences on Theresiastraat.

The turnout was great! A representative of COC Netherlands, who was present to explain the statutes section, spoke of a turnout he had never encountered before. Many new faces, many young people.

From the plenary meeting, within a strict time schedule – it could all take no longer than 2 hours – there were 4 sessions with the following topics:

  • new statutes of the association (adopted in plenary and signed by the chairman and secretary during the meeting);
  • the renovation of the building on Scheveningseveer with an explanation of the architects involved (attention in the plans requested for the use of the (Peter) Capel room by the choirs);
  • an introduction to the new social worker Tika Stardust and candidate board member Ingrid Krassenburg;
  • an explanation of the financial reports (discharge for the board in the plenary meeting).

Ingrid Krassenburg was elected to the board as general board member. Farewell was said to Deborah Landman (a volunteer for many years in the information working group, secretary of the association and as coordinator of the Transcafé, the International Social Club, Dutch language lessons for Expats and as a barmaid); Peter Paul Wiegmans (as secretary on the board) and Jan de Graaf (general board member on the board). Diana Touw also ended her board membership but unfortunately was not present to be put in the spotlight next to the above mentioned volunteers.

COC Haaglanden thanks Inholland University of Applied Sciences for making the accommodation available free of charge and looks back on a very successful meeting, despite all the limitations.
