As you may know, The Hague has an International Gay Monument. In the past two years, there has been campaigning about moving the monument from its current location at Madurodam to a location on the green belt at Koningskade (opposite the building of the Royal Academy of Art). The intended location ensures that the monument becomes more prominently visible than before and thus does justice to the iconic character for the LGBT community and gives meaning to the ambition of The Hague as an international city of justice and peace.

The city council of The Hague has approved the move and a festive ceremony will take place on Sunday 26 April at 17:30 to re-disclose the statue at the new location. Mayor Van Aartsen of The Hague has agreed to unveil the monument.

I invite you on behalf of the International Gay Monument Foundation and COC Haaglanden cordially to attend the festive unveiling.

The Koningskade location is located near the Central Station of The Hague and easily accessible by public transport. For car users there is an opportunity to park under the Malieveld and then cross to the location 3 minutes away.

After the ceremony there is a festive after-drink in the COC café, Scheveningseveer 7.
