After a festive and well-attended kick-off of the Pink Elderly Salon, it was time on the fourth Friday of November. The first salon without bells and whistles. To our delight, the visit was encouraging and it turned out to be a pleasant afternoon that made it clear that there is also a need in Delft to pay attention to the Pink Elders.

There is rightly a lot of attention for this specific group in the media. An emancipation problem has been exposed that probably shocked many. You would expect that seniors would find a safe place in the various care homes. That is not so obvious. Back in the closet and withholding the sexual identity are unfortunately the consequences, often resulting in great loneliness.

The Pieter van Foreest Foundation, together with the Delft elderly associations and the DWH, have taken the initiative to start the Pink Salon. For example, we follow other municipalities and in the preparation we have also received a lot of advice from Rotterdam and The Hague.

I'd like to make an appeal to just drop by. Even if you are not (yet) part of the target group as a senior. Visit is highly appreciated and shows involvement. It is emphatically the intention to prevent the isolation of pink elderly people and everyone has a responsibility there. Volunteers are most welcome, one-off initiatives are also important!

The Pink Elderly Salon is held every 4th Friday of the month in Delfs Hove, Vorrinkplein 99 Te Delft (16.00:19.00 pm to XNUMX:XNUMX pm).
