COC Haaglanden is looking for the person who will take firm control of our board as chairman! We are looking for someone who not only leads the board, but also forges vibrant ties with external organizations, including municipalities and partner organizations in our work area. You will be the shining face of “our COC” and a driving force behind our mission. Does this sound like your challenge? Then read on!

Tasks:  

  • Collaboration management
    • Chairing regular board meetings;
    • Coordinate goals and actions + discuss current affairs;
  • Politics and Security Portfolio
    • Management of the political and security portfolio;
    • First contact person for local and regional politics, government and government agencies;
  • The face of COC Haaglanden
    • Act as the first spokesperson towards the media;
    • If necessary, coordinate with COC Netherlands for a powerful message;
  • Future proof
    • Working on the mission, vision and multi-year plan;
    • Collaborate with other board members and working groups to shape the future of the association;
  • In contact with the members
    • Present at important moments of the association;
    • Drawing up the agenda for membership meetings (in consultation with the secretary). 

Position in the organization:

Together with the secretary and treasurer, the chairman forms the daily management of the association. Although certain executive tasks may be delegated to other enthusiasts within the club, e.g. communications and security, the chairman remains responsible as the ultimate 'portfolio boss'.

The chairman maintains contacts with all levels of the association, COC Netherlands, fellow COC associations and other (social) organizations, such as politics and the media. It is therefore crucial that the chairman masters the art of smooth and effective communication at various levels.

Profile:

The ideal chairman

  • Belongs to the target groups of the COC and is a member of the association or willing to become one;
  • Recognizes the vision, mission and objectives of the association;
  • Preferably has experience in a similar position or relevant professional experience;
  • Has good interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Is enthusiastic, collegial and collaborative;
  • Is familiar with political processes;
  • Media experience is an advantage.

Time investment, expenses and other details:

This management position takes approximately 6-8 hours per week (indicative). You can manage the time yourself. As chairman you are available for the necessary meetings and gatherings, also at national level. The chairman is elected into office by the General Members' Meeting for a term of 2 years. The position is unpaid. Travel and expenses are reimbursed according to the association's expense scheme.

Due to the nature of this position, a Certificate of Good Conduct is necessary.
