Pride The Hague: 17 – 19 May 2024

“It's time for The Hague to have Pride again.” Last spring, the COC started the Pride working group with that idea. We are Frank, Henk-Jan, Hilde, Marnix and Wouter. Later supplemented by Lisa, we are working hard to make Pride The Hague 2024, May 17 - 19, possible. We now have a clear goal, are working on 4 major publicly accessible events and are mobilizing other queer-related organizations to also contribute.

Purpose of Pride

The aim of Pride The Hague is to promote LGBTQA+ acceptance and emancipation in The Hague, to draw attention to the rights of the queer community and to celebrate diversity of queer people. To achieve these goals, we as a working group organize four major publicly accessible events.

Friday May 17: Pride Opening

We start the weekend on Friday evening with an opening program, probably in Amare. This section discusses a number of current themes within the community, such as visibility and safety in the city. In addition, there will be a number of performances and there will be room for The Hague's Queer organizations to show themselves.

Saturday May 18: Pride Walk and party

On Saturday afternoon there is the traditional Pride Walk. Then, just like in previous editions, we will walk in a colorful procession through The Hague. Starting at the Koekamp and passing the Peace Palace, among others. We will end the Walk with a fantastic party, possibly also at the Koekamp. 

Sunday May 19: Pride brunch for the elderly and young people

The program ends on Sunday with a Pride Brunch, aimed at the elderly and young people. The purpose of this meeting is to connect elderly and young people by sharing stories. 

Additional program

COC Haaglanden has taken the initiative for Pride The Hague, and we cannot do it alone. In our opinion, Pride The Hague should become an event by and for the entire queer community in the city. Because we want to create the broadest and most diverse program possible, we mobilize other queer-related organizations to contribute. In any case, various meetings have already shown that there is great enthusiasm. Some work is still needed to translate this into concrete activities.

Volunteers wanted

Will you help make Pride The Hague 2024 a success? And do you have the time and desire to help in the period from May 17 to 19? You can now register as a volunteer. 

In terms of tasks, you can think of things as a host during the events, a supervisor of the Pride Walk and/or a bartender during the party. You will receive more information about this later.
