Coming Out Day will take place worldwide on the weekend of October 10. A reason for the organization of the Popcake party in The Hague to continue a new tradition in The Hague with the second edition of Cotton Candy. A big hetero-friendly party in Poptemple Paard van Troje.

'In Amsterdam they have Gay Pride and in The Hague we are now celebrating 'Coming Out Day'. Together with COC Haaglanden, we felt that in the city of peace and justice, a gay party should certainly be linked to an important day like this, according to organizer Luuk Wessels.

During the “Coming Out Day” it is all about the moment when a gay, lesbian or bisexual openly expresses his or her preference.

“And that moment is in many cases not easy and that precedes a lot of stress for the person himself. Whereas if you knew that it doesn't matter to others who you fall in love with, it would make life a lot easier.”

“This sounds so simple, but in a tolerant country like the Netherlands, the moment you tell those around you that you like someone of the same sex is still very much looked up to. This is often due to ignorance of the outside world and if we can reduce that ignorance a little bit with this festive way, we are already on the right track, says Luuk.

“Everyone is welcome to celebrate Saturday, October 10 from 23.00 p.m. to be who or what you are. We do this with performances by O'G3NE, Jordan Roy, DJ Sjeazy Pearl, DJ Aiscream and others. Entrance is €7,50 (ex) through presale or at the door of Paard van Troje in The Hague.
